About Giles Thomas

Giles Thomas is Executive Director at FOE Global (foe.global), a UAE-based family office and private equity advisory firm. His work focuses on financial services due diligence, broker selection and investment strategy for family office and institutional clients across the GCC. That advisory work is separate from BestForexBroker, which gives no investment advice.

He brings that due-diligence discipline to BestForexBroker. Every broker is checked against the Capital Markets Authority's public licensee register and the legal entity named in its client agreement, not the firm's own summary of its licensing.

His role here is research, verification and writing. He works out which legal entity holds a Kenyan client's account, confirms its CMA licence and what that licence covers, reads the client agreement and the fee schedule, and writes the review from those documents and the account evidence. A review only says that an account was opened, funded, traded or withdrawn from when one actually was, and every screen behind it is captured and dated.

Outside this site he has been a full-week delegate at Abu Dhabi Finance Week, presented by ADGM, in 2023 and 2025. That keeps him close to how brokers and regulators talk about the industry, but it is background, not Kenyan market experience.

“A broker review is only worth reading if someone actually did the work. I publish what the registers and the contracts say, rather than what the marketing does.”

What Giles checks

Each broker goes through the same checks before a review is written, all of them against primary sources a Kenyan reader could look up themselves. Most of what a reader wants to know cannot be answered from a broker's website, so the review goes to the register, the contract and the account instead.

  • The legal entity that would hold a Kenyan client's account, and its entry on the CMA's public licensee register.
  • Whether that licence covers what the broker actually offers, and whether the money is held by the firm the client signs with.
  • The client agreement read in full, including which entity contracts with a Kenyan resident and who holds client money.
  • The broker's published costs added together: spread, commission, swap and currency conversion.
  • The cost of moving shillings in and out: the rate applied to an M-Pesa deposit or withdrawal, which a fee schedule rarely shows.

Independence

No broker pays for placement or ranking order on BestForexBroker. The site may earn a commission from some brokers it reviews, and commercial relationships do not decide what a review says. Giles has no commercial relationship with any broker covered on this site beyond any affiliate arrangements the site may have, which are disclosed sitewide.

How Giles Thomas contributes to our broker research

Giles researches and writes each review, and verifies it against the CMA's licensee register and the broker's client agreement before it goes to the editor.
