About Rory Hughes

Rory Hughes edits BestForexBroker's broker reviews and best-broker guides. He does not carry the bylines: Giles Thomas researches and writes the reviews, and Rory edits what comes back, pressing on the claims that are not yet sourced and cutting the ones that cannot be.

Three questions decide most of it for a Kenyan reader, and they are where he spends his editing time: what trading actually costs once spread, commission, swap and the conversion from shillings to dollars and back are added together; how money gets in and out through M-Pesa and Kenyan banks; and which legal entity holds a Kenyan client's account, and whether its licence checks out on the CMA's register.

Before brokers, Rory worked in digital marketing, SEO and comparison content from 2012, including comparison reviews of e-commerce software from 2020 to 2022 and setting the content structure for several business websites. Since January 2023 he has also been Business Development Manager at Family Office Experiences, an investor and family office network in Dubai, which keeps him close to the questions investors ask before choosing a provider. He studied at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana.

What an edit covers

Every review and ranking is edited before it is published. The edit checks that the page answers the questions a Kenyan reader arrives with, that each verdict follows from the evidence above it, and that nothing is stated more strongly than the testing supports. A claim without a source goes back to the writer; one that cannot be sourced comes out.

For a review, that means the account evidence is there and dated: registration as a Kenyan resident, the identity checks, a deposit through a method Kenyan traders actually use, real trades and a withdrawal. Anything not tested is marked "Not yet verified" rather than guessed.
