Admirals platform overview
Admirals is a long-established European broker group, and it holds a Kenyan licence: Admirals KE Limited is on the CMA register as licence number 178, with admiralmarkets.com as its website. It offers MetaTrader 4 and 5, real stocks and ETFs alongside CFDs, no commission on its main account, and M-Pesa in both directions.
When we signed up on admiralmarkets.com as a Kenyan resident, our account was opened with Admirals SC Ltd, the group's Seychelles company, licensed by the Financial Services Authority of Seychelles, so the contracts issued to us, from the client agreement to the complaints procedure, are that company's and under Seychelles law. On our account Admirals is the other side of your trades, part of what you deposit is held by title transfer rather than segregated, and complaints go to the Seychelles regulator. The account is in US dollars, and our M-Pesa round trip cost about 9 percent.

Our expert verdict
We opened a real Admirals account as a Kenyan resident on 24 October 2026. Sign-up was quick: an SMS code, a long application, then a Sumsub identity check with a liveness selfie that passed about eight minutes after we applied. A document review then capped deposits at USD 3,000 until it finished, which took longer than the 24 hours Admirals suggests. On 27 October we passed an eight-question appropriateness test and opened a Trade.MT5 account in US dollars. On 29 October we deposited KSh 3,400 by M-Pesa, credited as USD 25.37 within a minute or two, made USD 1.07 on one EUR/USD trade on MetaTrader 5, and withdrew everything back to M-Pesa, where it arrived about 12 minutes after we asked.
The trading and the payments worked well: EUR/USD at about 1 pip with no commission, and an M-Pesa withdrawal that arrived in about 12 minutes. Admirals holds CMA Licence 178 through Admirals KE Limited; our account was opened with its Seychelles company, under Seychelles law, as a market maker, with part of each deposit held under a title-transfer clause rather than segregated. Converting shillings is also expensive: a 6 percent gap between the rates we bought and sold dollars at, plus a 3 percent withdrawal fee, so we got back KSh 3,233 for our KSh 3,400 despite a winning trade.
What to watch out for
- Check which Admirals company opens your account. Admirals holds CMA Licence 178 through Admirals KE Limited, listed on the CMA register as a non-dealing online foreign exchange broker. When we signed up as a Kenyan resident on admiralmarkets.com, our account was opened with Admirals SC Ltd, the group's Seychelles company, licensed by the Financial Services Authority of Seychelles (SD073): the sign-up screens said the website "operates under Admirals SC Ltd", the client area said "You are trading with Admirals SC Ltd", and the documents issued to us name that company.
- Seychelles terms on our account. Our Client Service Agreement is governed by Seychelles law with the Seychelles courts (Terms of Business, 29), and unresolved complaints go to the Seychelles FSA.
- Part of your deposit is held by title transfer. The Risk Disclosure (14) transfers "full ownership and title" to a portion of the money you deposit, set daily by Admirals SC Ltd and possibly more than your margin; it is "not subject to segregation", may be used on its own account and "may therefore be irrecoverable" if it fails. We found no clause segregating the rest.
- Admirals is the other side of your trades. Admirals SC Ltd deals as principal (Terms of Business, 4.4) and as a market maker that "will seek to make additional profits" (14.8) and whose market making "may negatively affect the Client`s Account" (14.15).
- Converting shillings is costly. On 29 Oct 2026 our KSh 3,400 bought USD 25.37 (about 134.0 KES per USD) and our withdrawal sold dollars at 126.08 KES, with a 3% fee on top: about 8.7% of the deposit, before any trading.
- Withdrawal fees can rise. Our M-Pesa withdrawal cost 3%, and the Terms of Business allow up to 4.5% "in case there is no sufficient trading activity between last deposit and withdraw request" (4.8.8).
- Read the terms behind the "funds protected" badges. The site showed our account "Funds protected up to $100,000" and "Client's funds insurance coverage up to 100 000 USD". Admirals' Financial Security page and evidence of cover (read 3 November 2026) describe the insurance behind them: a private policy, not a statutory scheme, paying up to USD 100,000 per claimant if Admirals SC Ltd becomes insolvent, subject to a retention of at least USD 20,000, for 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027. Trading performance "is NOT covered", the terms are in a policy we have not seen, and none of the eleven documents issued to us mentions it.
- High leverage and a deposit bonus. Our account opened at 1:1000 on 27 October 2026, above the 1:400 cap the CMA sets for its licensees (2017 Regulations, reg. 19(1)); Admirals SC Ltd is not one. The deposit page offered a bonus equal to the deposit, up to USD 5,000. Its terms make it trading credit that cannot cover losses, turned into cash at USD 25 for every USD 1 million traded within 180 days, and removed by any withdrawal that takes your balance below it; we did not take it.
- Negative balance protection: report a negative balance by email. The policy asks you to email support within 2 business days of a negative balance; it does not say what happens if you do not.
- Inactivity fee. EUR 10 a month after 24 months without trading, while the balance is above zero.
- We found no loss figure for this company. The 74% in the website banner belongs to Admirals Europe Ltd in Cyprus, not Admirals SC Ltd.

How we tested Admirals
We created a profile on admiralmarkets.com as a Kenyan resident on 24 October 2026, confirming the phone with an SMS code, then completed the application: identity, address, KRA tax number, US person and PEP status, education, employment, income and expected deposits. Sumsub checked a Kenyan ID document and a liveness selfie on the phone, and the profile was verified at 23:01, eight minutes after the "application is pending" email. Logging in on the phone needed a six-digit code sent by email. On 27 October we passed the appropriateness test and opened a live MetaTrader 5 Trade.MT5 account in US dollars, and we read the eleven legal documents the site provided: ten issued by Admirals SC Ltd, and the group's Privacy Policy.
Also on 27 October, we made a first deposit of KSh 3,300 through the "Local banks Africa" method; it came to USD 24.63, under the USD 25 minimum, and Admirals emailed a confirmation. We then found our MetaTrader 5 account disabled and raised it in the live chat. On 29 October, after the document review had lifted the limits, we deposited KSh 3,400 by M-Pesa through the same method; the M-Pesa prompt asked us to pay ZamuPay Limited, and USD 25.37 reached the account with no fee. We bought 0.01 lots of EUR/USD on the MetaTrader 5 desktop terminal at 1.11370 with a stop loss and take profit, and closed it fifteen minutes later for a USD 1.07 profit, with no commission and no overnight fee. We also placed and cancelled a pending order on the Admirals web trader. We then moved the USD 26.44 balance to the Admirals wallet and withdrew it to M-Pesa at 126.08 KES per USD less a 3 percent fee, and KSh 3,233 arrived from ZamuPay Limited at 17:56, confirmed by SMS. Times are by the phone and Safaricom; the computer we used ran about five minutes slow, which we corrected for.
We also checked the CMA register, where Admirals KE Limited appears at licence 178, and searched the CMA's website for warnings about Admirals, which found none. We tested one Trade.MT5 account over five days, so our spread, rate and timing figures are single observations, and on 2 November we went back for the fees page, the education and research pages and the MetaTrader 5 symbol list. We did not test the Zero.MT5 or Invest.MT5 accounts, MetaTrader 4, a card or e-wallet, the app's trading screens, or support by email or phone, and we did not open the client area's entity menu to see whether the Kenyan company could be chosen.
What traders say about Admirals
Summary of app-store ratings and reviews. App Store ratings are from the Kenyan store; Google Play shows its Kenyan average beside a worldwide count, and its reviews are not filtered by country.
The Admirals app is rated 4.5 on Google Play in Kenya (2,360 ratings worldwide) and has too few ratings on the Kenyan App Store to show a score. Only 4 of the 20 reviews we read are from 2024 or later, so treat these themes as dated. We followed our trade in the MetaTrader 5 app, rated 4.8 on the Kenyan App Store, and our M-Pesa withdrawal arrived in about 12 minutes.

Safety, regulation & Kenyan legal entity
Admirals KE Limited holds CMA Licence Number 178. We confirmed it on the CMA licensee register, where a search for Admirals returns Admirals KE Limited at licence 178 with admiralmarkets.com as its website, one of 14 non-dealing online foreign exchange brokers on the CMA's list. A second search of the same page returned no match, which we put down to the search, not the register. A search of the CMA's website for Admirals found no warning, and Admirals is not among the entities in the CMA's public caution of 11 September 2026.
Our own account was opened with another company in the group. When we signed up on admiralmarkets.com as a Kenyan resident, every sign-up screen said the website "operates under Admirals SC Ltd", including after we chose Kenya; the client area said "You are trading with Admirals SC Ltd"; the US tax step named Admirals SC Ltd as the reporting institution; and our MetaTrader 5 account sat on the AdmiralsSC-Live server. The Client Service Agreement (effective 28 September 2026) and nine other documents we were given are issued by Admirals SC Ltd, registration 8426894-1, regulated by the Financial Services Authority of Seychelles as a securities dealer under licence SD073; the eleventh, the Privacy Policy, is the group's. None of the eleven mentions Kenya, the CMA or Admirals KE Limited, and the broker's own regulation page and footer name only its Cyprus company, Admirals Europe Ltd, regulated by CySEC, whose footer says Admirals SC Ltd uses the Admirals name "as Franchisee". The agreement is governed by Seychelles law with the Seychelles courts (29).
The Seychelles terms are weaker than those of the CMA-licensed brokers we have tested. Admirals SC Ltd deals with you as principal (Terms of Business, 4.4) and as a market maker that is not obliged to quote within a maximum spread (14.7), "will seek to make additional profits" from that role (14.8), and says its market making "may negatively affect the Client`s Account" (14.15); its Conflict of Interest Policy adds that it may match one client's trade against another's (4(j)). On client money, the Risk Disclosure (14) says you "transfer full ownership and title to a portion of all the money you will deposit": an amount Admirals SC Ltd sets each day at its discretion to secure your obligations, which "may be greater than the margin requirements". You have "no proprietary claim" over it, it is "not subject to segregation", it may be used on Admirals SC Ltd's own account, and it "may therefore be irrecoverable" if the company fails. We found no clause in the Terms of Business that segregates the rest. The Invest.MT5 account for real shares is different: its cash sits in a segregated client account, though Admirals SC Ltd keeps the interest (Terms of Securities Trading, 8.1 and 8.4).
The Negative Account Balance Protection Policy (valid from 21 February 2023) says Admirals SC Ltd will credit a negative balance caused by normal trading, and asks you to email support within 2 business days of it; illicit trading and fees are excluded. None of the eleven documents issued to us names a compensation scheme or insurance. The "Funds protected up to $100,000" and "Client's funds insurance coverage up to 100 000 USD" badges the site showed our account refer to an insurance policy described on Admirals' Financial Security page and in the evidence of cover it links, both read on 3 November 2026. The page says the insurance automatically covers "Securities and cash of eligible Admirals SC Ltd clients, in the event of an Insolvency", up to USD 100,000; that "Investment/ Trading performance is NOT covered"; and that some clients, such as companies other than small businesses, are excluded, while "More than 99% of all our clients will be covered". The certificate names insurers at Lloyd's of London, a policy period of 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027, a sum insured of "Up to USD 100,000 per Claimant" and a retention of at least USD 20,000 per claimant, and says it "confers no rights upon any person in possession of it". Those terms are defined in the policy itself, which we have not seen. It is private insurance, not a statutory compensation scheme, and the CMA's Investor Compensation Fund does not cover online forex brokers in any case (Capital Markets Act, s. 18). Complaints go to compliance.sc@admiralmarkets.com; the complaints procedure promises an answer generally within 21 days and at most 90, while the Terms of Business say 7 business days (27.3), and an unresolved complaint goes to the Seychelles FSA. Our account also opened at 1:1000 leverage on 27 October 2026, above the 1:400 cap the CMA sets for its licensees (2017 Regulations, reg. 19(1)), of which Admirals SC Ltd is not one, and the deposit page offered a 100 percent bonus, up to USD 5,000.
The only accounts we found that cover Admirals SC Ltd are in Admirals Group AS's 2025 annual report, audited by Ernst & Young Baltic. Its segment note, which gives figures for each main legal entity with group eliminations in a separate column, shows Admirals SC Ltd with total assets of EUR 13.36 million and total liabilities of EUR 13.25 million at 31 December 2025 (EUR 7.96 million and EUR 3.14 million at 31 December 2024). Admirals KE Limited is not shown separately.

Account opening
Opening was fully online. After an email, name, country and phone, confirmed with an SMS code, and a password, Admirals asks whether you want to trade live or on a demo, which needs no identity check. The live application is long: client type, with a box to accept the Terms of Business and confirm you are over 18, citizenship, full name, date and place of birth, address, KRA tax number, US person and PEP status, education, employment, income, net worth, expected deposits and source of funds. The income step notes that USD 25 is the minimum deposit for a live CFD account.
Identity is checked by Sumsub with a Kenyan ID card or passport and a liveness selfie, which we completed on the phone; the profile was verified at 23:01 on 24 October 2026, eight minutes after the "application is pending" email. A document review followed, during which deposits were capped at USD 3,000. Admirals says this "usually takes up to 24 hours"; ours was still open on the morning of 27 October, and by 29 October the portal said our proof of address was approved and the limits were gone.
Before a live CFD account you take an eight-question appropriateness test on experience, education, income, leverage, losses, stop losses and margin calls; ours ended "CFD trading is appropriate". You then choose MetaTrader 5 or 4, an account type, a currency and a trading password of 8 to 15 characters. The currencies we were offered included US dollars and euros but no shilling; we chose US dollars. The account opened at 1:1000 leverage on the AdmiralsSC-Live server, and still showed 1:1000 after our first deposit that day; by 29 October it showed 1:100. We traded on Trade.MT5 and did not open Zero.MT5 or Invest.MT5 accounts.

Deposit and withdrawal
Admirals lists cards, Skrill, Neteller, bank wire, crypto and stablecoins, its own wallet, and a "Local banks Africa" method that takes M-Pesa and Airtel Money in shillings. Deposits are free. The deposit page also offered a bonus equal to the deposit, up to USD 5,000, which we did not take. Under Admirals SC Ltd's Deposit Boost terms (effective 23 September 2026), which exclude UK and EEA residents but not Kenyan ones, the bonus is credit that cannot cover trading losses (5.2). It turns into cash at USD 25 for every USD 1 million you trade, within 180 days; your account is stopped out when its equity falls to the credit left (7.9); and a withdrawal that takes your balance below that credit removes it (7.10).
We tested M-Pesa on 29 October 2026. We entered KSh 3,400; the payment page offered M-Pesa or Airtel Money, and the M-Pesa prompt on the phone asked us to pay ZamuPay Limited, a payment processor, not an Admirals account. USD 25.37 was in the trading account within a minute or two, with no fee: about 134.0 KES per USD (the page showed a rounded rate of 0.0075). An earlier deposit of KSh 3,300 on 27 October, made while the document review was still open, came to USD 24.63 at the same rate, under the USD 25 minimum, and Admirals emailed a confirmation at 12:08, within two minutes; we saw no email for the 29 October deposit.
To withdraw, we first moved the balance from the trading account to the Admirals wallet, which was free. Only "Local banks Africa" and bank wire were open for withdrawal; the others were locked, as money goes back the way it came (Payments Terms, 1.2). We withdrew USD 26.44 to M-Pesa at 126.08 KES per USD, with a fee of KES 100.01, exactly 3 percent of the KES 3,333.57 it converted to, leaving KES 3,233.56. The M-Pesa SMS came at 17:56: KSh 3,233 received from ZamuPay Limited, about 12 minutes after we confirmed the request.
The cost is in the conversion. Admirals' fees page, as we saw it on 2 November 2026, gives one free withdrawal per calendar month for each payment method and charges further ones "based on the selected payment method and its terms", and says its own fees are separate from anything banks or third-party providers charge. Its Deposits and Withdrawals page, captured on its "Global" tab on 27 October, puts those charges at 2 to 3 percent. Our M-Pesa withdrawal on 29 October was charged 3 percent, and the Terms of Business allow up to 4.5 percent where there was too little trading between the deposit and the withdrawal (4.8.8). Neither page showed an M-Pesa rate: the "Local" tab, where M-Pesa would be, has not been captured.
| Deposit fee | None (M-Pesa, 29 Oct 2026) |
|---|---|
| Withdrawal fee | 3% on our M-Pesa withdrawal (29 Oct 2026) |
| Deposit time | In the account within a minute or two of the M-Pesa prompt (29 Oct 2026) |
| Withdrawal time | About 12 minutes from request to M-Pesa SMS (29 Oct 2026); requests received before 17:00 are processed the same business day (Payments Terms, 4.6) |
| KES supported | Yes (converted to the account currency) |

Product selection & tradable assets
Admirals' home page advertised more than 6,900 instruments on MetaTrader 4 and 5 on 2 November 2026. Its account types page lists, for Trade.MT5, 80 currency pairs, 17 crypto CFDs, metal and energy CFDs and share and ETF CFDs; for Zero.MT5, 80 pairs, metals, 8 cash indices and energies; and for Invest.MT5, over 4,500 real stocks and over 400 real ETFs, including fractional shares, which carry no voting rights. That makes Admirals one of the few brokers we have tested where a Kenyan client can own real shares, though through the Seychelles company, which settles through its Cyprus affiliate and a third-party broker that may be in the United States, possibly in an omnibus account (Terms of Securities Trading, 9.3 and 9.4).
On our Trade.MT5 account's MetaTrader 5 terminal on 2 November, the symbol list was grouped into stock CFDs, forex, metals, energies, index CFDs, ETF CFDs and cryptocurrencies, with symbols such as EURUSD-T. Forex is split into majors, minors and exotics, and the majors group held five pairs: EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/CAD, USD/CHF and USD/JPY. We did not count the symbols in each group, and we traded EUR/USD only.
What you can trade at Admirals
Fees and spreads
On the Trade.MT5 account the cost of a trade is the spread, with no commission on forex: EUR/USD was 0.9 pips on the MetaTrader 5 ticket and 1.0 to 1.1 pips on the Admirals web trader on 29 October 2026, about USD 0.10 on our 0.01 lot trade, and the deal history showed zero commission and zero overnight fees. Those are single observations. Zero.MT5 advertises spreads from 0.0 pips with a commission per transaction; we did not capture the rate.
For a Kenyan client the bigger cost is the shilling. On our test we bought dollars at about 134.0 KES and sold them at 126.08 KES, a gap of about 6 percent, and the M-Pesa withdrawal cost 3 percent on top: about 8.7 percent of the deposit, or roughly KSh 297 on KSh 3,400, before any trading. Other charges: EUR 10 a month after 24 months without trading, 0.3 percent on share and ETF trades in another currency (with a "Currency Conversion Fee Update" announced for 7 November 2026), 1 percent on transfers between accounts in different currencies, and 1 percent, at least EUR 1, on wallet transfers in another currency after five free ones a day.

Web & desktop platform
Admirals offers MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, MetaTrader WebTrader, the MetaTrader Supreme Edition add-on, its own web trader in the client area, StereoTrader and a VPS. We placed and closed our trade on the MetaTrader 5 desktop terminal, on the AdmiralsSC-Live server, without problems; the margin it took matched 1:100 leverage, not the 1:1000 the account opened with. We placed and cancelled a pending buy limit order on the Admirals web trader, which offers market, limit and stop orders with stop loss and take profit and shows the commission before you confirm. The client area also has market news and an investing calculator. A demo account needs no identity check. There is no cTrader.
The Admirals web platform
Mobile app
The Admirals app asks whether you want to trade leveraged CFDs or invest in stocks and ETFs, protects login with a four-digit passcode, and has a "Trust this device" setting; we saw no biometric login option. We also used the MetaTrader 5 app to watch our EUR/USD position with its stop loss and take profit. Logging in through the phone's browser needed a six-digit code sent by email, and the M-Pesa prompts came to the same phone. We ran the trade on desktop, not on the phone.
Admirals app
Kenya-specific features
Admirals has a CMA-licensed Kenyan company, Admirals KE Limited (Licence 178); our Kenyan sign-up went to its Seychelles company. Locally, the strengths are M-Pesa and Airtel Money funding through a payment processor and fast M-Pesa withdrawals. The gaps are the offshore account, no shilling account, an expensive conversion each way and no Kenyan support line we could find.

Customer support
We tested the live chat once, from the client area on 27 October 2026, when our MetaTrader 5 account was disabled. The chat said it was "currently replying in under a minute", and an AI assistant answered first; its first suggestion was to make sure at least the minimum deposit had been made. The minimum is USD 25, and our first deposit came to USD 24.63. When we asked for a person, the assistant wanted a name and email before handing over, and a named customer support agent greeted us within a minute and a half of our asking. Our captures stop at that greeting, so we cannot say how well the problem was handled.
The home page claims 24/5 support, and the documents give global@admiralmarkets.com, and compliance.sc@admiralmarkets.com for complaints. We did not test email, and we found no Kenyan phone number.

Research & education
The website's Education menu lists an academy, Forex and CFD webinars, articles and tutorials, a trader's glossary, an FAQ and e-books, and the education page sorts its material into beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, described as on demand and "100% free". The Research Terminal and AnalysisIQ, an add-on for MetaTrader 4 and 5, promises market news, event analysis, asset insights and trade ideas after a sign-up and a download. In the client area there is market news, with economic and earnings headlines, and an investing calculator that estimates the costs of a share trade. We looked at these pages on 2 November 2026 but did not take a course, join a webinar or install the Research Terminal.

Verdict
In our test, Admirals got the practical things right: about 1 pip on EUR/USD with no commission, real stocks and ETFs as well as CFDs, a quick digital sign-up and an M-Pesa withdrawal that landed in about 12 minutes. Admirals holds CMA Licence 178 through Admirals KE Limited; our sign-up was opened with Admirals SC Ltd in Seychelles, so that company's terms applied: Seychelles law, a market maker model, part of each deposit held by title transfer and a Seychelles complaints route. Shilling conversion cost us about 9 percent.
